Samantha Marie Nichols (born December 7, 1989 in Chicago, Illinois) is a retired American professional wrestler, best known for her time in Soul Wrestling Incorporated, where she is a two-time SWI Women's Champion. She was known for using DJ Earworm's "United State of Pop" remixes as her entrance themes, changing it every year.
Personal life[]
Nichols was born to Jordan and Heather Nichols. She has an older brother Kyle, who works as a graphics designer. Nichols moved to Medicine Hat in 2009, studying education at the college along with her roommate Justine Hamilton.
Soul Wrestling Incorporated[]
Early career (2009 - 2011)[]
When SWI's women's division was formed in late 2009, Nichols was signed to the company, having grown up as a wrestling fan. She underwent training from XS3, Ken Davids, and SP Robertson. Nichols made her in-ring debut at Destiny Fulfilled, teaming with Kennedy Carson, Justine Vaine, and Simona Summers in a losing effort against Kelsey Phoenix, Kayla Stevens, Lisa Cross, and Ashley London. She then competed in a battle royal for the SWI Women's Championship at Beginning Anew, being the third eliminated. Nichols then defeated Kayla on the following episode of Apocalypse for a title shot, but lost to Kelsey at Challenging Adversity.
Nichols spent the rest of the year and much of early 2011 competing in the women's division with little success. On May 28, Nichols showed signs of a face turn when she tended to Kelsey after their match when she was shoved to the canvas by her father Darren. On the June 5 episode of Aftermath, Nichols defeated Becky Cooper, then shook her hand after the match. She repeated this the following week when she defeated Kennedy Carson. Nichols then completed her face turn by teaming with Kennedy the following week to defeat Serenity Ramirez and Raneesha Jackson.
Women's Champion (2011 - 2014)[]
On August 13, Nichols won a battle royal to face Kayla Stevens for the Women's title. The following week, she was picked by Hitman of the Gods to be his warm-up match before Unholy Confessions. Hitman defeated Nichols in a no DQ match when Kayla struck her with the Women's title in the first few seconds of the match. Nichols defeated Kayla to win her first SWI Women's Championship at Unholy Confessions, then defeated Kayla again two weeks later. Nichols then retained her title against her former "BFF" Justine Vaine at Betrayal. On December 10, Nichols lost the title to Lisa Cross after interference from Mary Jane.
At Destiny Fulfilled, Samantha, Kelsey, Becky, and Psychophelia defeated Kayla, Justine, Raneesha, and Ashley in an eight-woman elimination tag match; Samantha and Psychophelia were the last women remaining. Later that week, she defeated Mary Jane on Apocalypse for her second SWI Women's Championship. She defended the title against Lisa and Mary at Beginning Anew, then against Lisa at Challenging Adversity. On April 7, Nichols began an on-screen relationship with Blackwolf. On May 5, she agreed to become the valet for Worldwide Truth & Freedom while also wanting to be a singlers wrestler. At Renewal, Samantha lost the Women's title to Kayla Stevens. On the Apocalypse after Renewal, Samantha left W.T.F. and ended her relationship with Blackwolf.
At Destiny Fulfilled, Samantha defeated Kayla in a Street Fight, earning a future Women's title match. Her match came at Challenging Adversity, where she was defeated by Kelsey. During the match, Samantha suffered a knee injury that would sideline her for six months. Samantha returned at Unholy Confessions, defeating Kelsey in a rematch. Samantha unsuccessfully challenged Kayla for the Women's title at Beginning Anew, then attacked her after the match, turning heel.
On August 8, 2014, Samantha announced her departure from SWI and subsequent retirement to focus on her career as a teacher. She thanked her fans and the company on her Facebook page and did not rule out future appearances down the line. True to her word, Samantha made a surprise appearance in a ten-woman tag team match at Independence 10. She then made another appearance on the December 12 Old School episode of Apocalypse, replacing Hannah Kelly in an eight-woman tag team match and winning the match for her team. She made a one-off appearance at RewindMania, competing in a six-pack challenge in a losing effort.
